PMEGP Scheme Details

Who can apply?

  • Age: Above 18 years.
  • Educational Qualification: Minimum 8th pass for projects costing over ₹10 lakhs (Manufacturing) and ₹5 lakhs (Business/Service).
  • Other Eligible Entities: Self-Help Groups, Society/Trust/Cooperative. However, units that have previously benefited from any government scheme are not eligible.

When was the scheme launched?
PMEGP started in 2008–09 by merging the PMRY and REGP schemes.

Objectives:

  • To create employment through establishment of small industries in rural and urban areas.
  • To empower traditional artisans and unemployed youth to become self-reliant.
  • To reduce migration.

Availability:

  • Manufacturing projects: Up to ₹50 lakhs.
  • Service projects: Up to ₹20 lakhs.
  • For rural projects, per capita investment limits are ₹1 lakh (general) and ₹1.5 lakhs (hilly areas).

Second Loan (For well-performing units):

  • Manufacturing: Up to ₹1 crore project cost.
  • Service: Up to ₹25 lakhs project cost.
